This document looks at how a museum worker/museum, when faced with an ethical dilemma, can resolve it in a balanced manner. The purpose of the guideline is to promote a climate of integrity, assist museum workers and museums with making decisions of an ethical nature, and to provide the public on what they can expect from museums and individuals associated with museums regarding matters of ethics. The CMA Ethical Guidelines are not intended to replace individual museum policies or statements of ethics, but rather to be used as a framework. This ethics guideline was created in 1999 and re-issued in 2006 by the Canadian Museums Association.
